About Shimsha Valley

One of the major rivers of south India, Shimsha River is one of the tributaries of river Kaveri and flows in the state of Karnataka. Shimsha River originates from Devarayanadurga Hills of Tumkur District. Originating from an altitude of 914 meters, the river and its small tributaries blends again with River Cauvery in the place called Shimsha Valley after flowing across the distance of 100 kilometers. This picturesque blend of rivers can be viewed atop the Shimsha Valley.

Muthathi (or Muttatti) settlement is situated on the banks of river Kaveri and near malavalli. Muthathi is encircled by dense forests of Kaveri Wildlife Sanctuary. The place has associations with Ram’s Wife sita, and the Hindu Deity Anjana. Also, a small temple is dedicated to Anjaneya (Hanuman) close to the town which attracts large number or rural residents located nearby. Shimsha is a well-connected hilly valley which is accessible from Bangalore through direct bus or a private vehicle.

Take a separate route from Maddur highway which leads you to this valley. There is an old tourist Bungalow amidst of lush green vegetation in Shimsha Valley.
