About Muttupettai

Muttupettai is famous for its Mangrove forest that is evergreen forest and attracts many tourists to enjoy the deep rooted trees. Also enjoy the variety of fishes that are available in these backwaters. This mangrove forest sees a migration of birds from Russia, Iran and Europe during the monsoons. Some of the migratory birds sighted here are the egret, flamingo, heron, the painted stork, pelican, teal and tern. This area where the migratory birds are seen has been converted into a protected area called the Udayamarthandapuram Bird Sanctuary.
