About Hazratbal Mosque
Hazratbal Mosque is one of the most important holy places for Muslims, and possibly the holiest in Kashmir. It is said to contain a relic, which is believed to be the hair of Prophet Mohammed. Located on the bank of Dal Lake in Srinagar, it is about 25 kms away from the airport. The relic is put out for public display on holy days and the annual fair 'Shab-e-Meraj' is held every year near the mosque attracting pilgrims from all over.
