About Srisailam Dam

India’s third largest Hydroelectric Project, Srisailam dam was constructed across River Krishna when it flows through Srisailam of Kurnool District. In a deep canyon of Nallamala Hills, the dam was constructed of 512 m long and 145 m height. Perched at an altitude of 300 m above sea level, Srisailam dam has 12 radial crest Gates. Initialized around 1960s, power project was established across River Krishna. However the dam was completed in 1981.
