About Sankar Monastery
Daughter of the Spituk monastery and residence of the Abbot of Spituk, it’s a short walk from town at about 20km. Relatively modern, only a handful of monks are regularly stationed here. It’s well-lit, and the rooms are well decorated with painted frescoes of the Tibetan calendar, mandalas and rules of worship for the monks.
